Robocop wouldn't be included in a discussion about the best action films of the 1980s. Paul Verhoeven’s first Hollywood movie is still highly regarded. It is not only considered a classic among 1980s motion pictures, but it also ranks as one the most shrewd, though obvious, satires that period. RoboCop was a simple period action film that could be dismissed in its early days. But, time has only made Robocop more important. It has the surface qualities of an action movie that we like, but its depths are where (first article) the miracles of Paul Verhoeven's oeuvre become apparent.
